RAINBOW YOUTHS WELCOME NEW MEMBER AND LOOK FORWARD TO A FUN 2010

Lexington Assembly #37, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a philanthropic organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 20, had a very exciting December as we welcomed our newest member, Jordan, into the Assembly.  Jordan was initiated during our state-wide initiation at the Grand Lodge in Boston and everyone had a great time at the celebration dinner-dance held afterwards.  We also decorated and sold Holiday Wreaths and had fun at our annual holiday gift swap during December.

The members kicked off 2010 with a movie afternoon and a visit to the Build-a-Bear workshop.  On January 8th we will be installing our new officers for the January-June term.  We will also go Snow Tubing on January 30th and will be taking orders for our annual Valentine’s Day chocolate lollipop sale during the month of January.

Aside from the fun activities that our members plan and enjoy, we have regular meetings on the second and fourth Fridays of each month, except during July and August.  Community service is also important to our members.  During December, our members volunteered at a children’s Holiday Party sponsored by the Simon W. Robinson Lodge.  In addition, Rainbow Girls across Massachusetts are currently collecting items to donate to the Cradles to Crayons program to benefit underprivileged children.  Donations of new and gently-used clothing, books, toys, baby items, and school supplies for children age 0 to 12 are currently being accepted at the Lexington Masonic Hall between 10am and 3 pm.

Membership in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls is open to any girl between the ages of 11 and 21 years, and Pledge membership is open for girls ages 9-10.  Our organization reinforces and bolsters self esteem, leadership and community service by planning fun events and activities, traveling to different cities and states, volunteering for different charities and working to improve public speaking.
